Former Wheeler Standout Jayen Brown Headed To the Boston Celtics

Former Wheeler High School standout, Jaylen Brown was the 3rd overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. The Boston Celtics surprised many when they took Brown, who played one season with the Cal Golden Bears, with the third pick. Brown averaged 14.6 ppg, 5.4rpg and was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. Brown helped lead the Bears to their first perfect home season in 56 years as well as their highest modern NCAA Tournament ranking. Brown joins the likes of former Wheeler basketball standouts Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who also played college ball at Cal, J.J. Hickson, Dequan Jones, and Jermarco Davidson as players who have all been taken by NBA teams. Congratulations to Brown and his family!
