Dunwoody Boys Hold Their Own But St. Pius Girls Propel The Golden Lions Past Wet Wildcats 356-272


Thursday night, the Dunwoody Wet Wildcats hosted the St. Pius Golden Lions in a head to head swim meet. As the meet got underway, the Golden Lions Boys team would get things going for St. Pius as the 200 Medley Relay would see the Golden Lions taking 1st (1:43.05) and 3rd (1:54.50) place and Dunwoody taking the 2nd place spot (1:51.56). It would be the Dunwoody Girls that would take the top spot (1:55.24) in the Girls 200 Medley Relay, however the Lady Golden Lions would take the 2nd (1:59.04) and 3rd (2:04.19) place spots. As the individual events began, Christopher Thames would give the Wet Wildcats another 1st place win (1:50.48) while St. Pius' Daniel Figiel would take 2nd (1:54.71) and Jerrick Neu would come in 3rd (1:55.64) for the Golden Lions in the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle. In the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle,

Dunwwody would take the top two spots as Ashley Altera would come in 1st (2:05.97) and teammate Megan Johnson would come in 2nd (2:08.36) while St. Pius' Spencer Flynn (2:17.81) would take the 3rd place spot. As the individual events continued, Dunwoody's Grant Allison would clock in at :22.60 in the Boys 50 Yard Freestyle to take 1st and St. Pius' Blake Reynolds (22.65) would come in a very close 2nd with Shota Barbeau (:23.34) would get the 3rd place spot for the Wet Wildcats. In the Girls 50 Yard Freestyle Laura Spaulding (:25.45) would add to the Dunwoody total by taking 1st but St. Pius would sweep the 2nd and 3rd place spots thanks to Riley Hendrix (:26.34) and Georgia Brieske (:26.62). Throug eight events, the Dunwoody Boys would lead St. Pius 55-49 while the St. Pius Girls would lead the Lady Wet Wildcats 65-40 and the St. Pius team would lead Dunwoody 114-95. In the diving competitions, the Wet Wildcats would take 1st (Lauren Davis - 245.85) and 3rd (Emily Christensen - 223.65) and the Lady Golden Lions would sneak away with 2nd (Jill Bergeron - 225.05).

In Boys Diving, St. Pius would take 1st (Grant Summers) and 2nd (Matt Halbig) while Dunwoody's Zachary Humphries would come in 3rd. In the Boys 100 Yard Freestyle it would be a complete sweep by St. Pius but that would not be enough as Dunwoody's Boys would hold a 97-94 lead over St. Pius through fourteen events while the St. Pius Gilrs had a comfortable 130-62 lead over the Lady Wet Wildcats and the St. Pius Team led Dunwoody 224-159. As the Meet continued the Dunwoody Boys wold increase their lead and go on to win 170-143 over the St. Pius Boys but the Lady Golden Lions would dominate the Dunwoody Girls defeating them 213-102 to help left the St. Pius team to a 356-272 win over Dunwoody.
