New Manchester Opener Kicks Off Track Season
It's not quite spring, but one of the fastest sports of the season got underway as the New Manchester Season Opener kicked off at New Manchester High School on Saturday. Featured schools included McEachern, who picked up first place wins in the Girls 100M (Jayda Parsons :12.40) and the Girls 4x400 Relay (3:59.90) as well as the Boys 200M (Devin Washington :22.73) and the Boys 400M (Treyion Daniels :51.13). The Indians also took home the Boys overall top spot.
Chapel Hill out of Douglasville, was also at the meet and picked up big wins in several events which led to their Girls team victory as well as the overall win at the open. Wins for Chapel Hill included the Girls 200M (Aliyah Sangster :25.32), the Girls 400M (Aliyah Sangster :57.56), Girls 100M Hurdles, (Kayla Alexander :13.89), as well as the Boys 100M (Tyre Shelton :10.90) and the Boys 4x100 Relay (43.64).
The New Manchester Season Opener was a good indication that Chapel Hill would be a contender for for the as Panthers did not run a lot of their top runners.
