Lady Longhorns Improve To 2-0 Start With 16-2 Win Over Woodward
On Tuesday, the Lambert Lady Longhorns traveled to visit the Woodward Lady War Eagles in their second game of the girls Lacrosse season. The Lady Longhorns got things going early in the game as Lambert's #22 Peyton Smith put the Lady Longhorns on the scoreboard :55 into the game giving them the early 1-0 lead. With 22:00 to go in the first half, the Lady Longhorns would find themselves up 3-0 over the Lady War Eagles after #10 Jenna Humphries managed to find the net.
After trailing 4-0, Woodward would call timeout to regroup but out of the timeout, Lambert would continue to mount up the points as they took a 9-0 lead into the half. In the second half, the Lady Longhorns would pick things up right where they left them in the first half as Humphries (5 goals) would score 1:10 into the half. A minute and thirty seconds later, Humpries would once again score for the Lady Longhorns as Lambert would take a 11-0 lead with 22:10 remaining in the second half.
As Woodward's defense continued to struggle against the quickness of Lambert, the Lady War Eagles would find themselves trying to battle back from a 13 point deficit after Lambert's Smith (4 goals) would score with 12:30 to go in the game. The Lady War Eagles would eventually get on the score board when #4 Kennedy Lollis scored with just under two minute to play followed by another goal by #5 Jade Robertson, however the goals would come too late for Woodward as Lambert would go on to win by a final score of 16-2 as the Lady Longhorns improve to 2-0. Lambert will visit North Forsyth on Friday and Woodward will host Chamblee on Friday.
