Knights Win "Battle of Undefeated's" As Grady Defeats Marist 1-0, Improves to 4-0-2
On Monday, the Grady Knights hosted the Marist War Eagles with both teams coming into the match up undefeated, each with a 3-0-2 record a quarter of the way into the season. As the game got underway, both the Knights and War Eagles wasted no time to looking to get the upper hand as the contest proved to be a physical one.
Defensively, Grady and Marist played very intensely as the game would remain scoreless until the 22:31 mark of the first half, when Grady's #10 would catch the deflection off of a Marist player and would score with a kick that would send the ball over the Marist goalie's finger tips into the net giving the Knights a 1-0 lead. As the half continued, the game would also continue to be a defensively physical one as neither team would put any more points on the board before halftime.
In the second half things would get a little too physical for the officials as Marist's #11 Jr. Tobi Gastaldi would receive a red card and be ejected from the contest. As play continued, both teams would get a few good opportunities to score including a penalty kick by Marist's #5 Jr. Mike Biando, which would have tied the game, but Grady's goalie would manage to leap just high enough to block the kick with his finger tips as Grady would go on to win improving to 4-0-2.
