4A Region 7 Track and Field Finals Underway, Barden, Pearson, and Brown Headed to Sectionals In Fiel


On Tuesday, the Georgia High School Association Class 4A, Region 4 Track and Field finals got underway at host school, Blessed Trinity. The day would feature only a few finals in running events including the 800M, with Blessed Trinity's Emma Rose Bagwell (2:16.46) taking first and Marist's Brian Faust (1:53.93) taking the top spot on the boys side.

The 3200M would be the only other running finals to take place as Marist's Josie Wirtz (11:41.54) would race her way to sectionals with the top speed of the day in the girls event and Blessed Trinity's Ben McCoy (9:40.43) would do the same on the boys side. In field events, finals would take place, with the top four positions heading to sectionals. Winners in field events included, Blessed Trinity's Jana Barden in the Girls Shot Put with 35-11.50 being her best throw of the day.

Marist's Ellis Pearson, ranked No. 50 in the state, would take the number one spot in the Boys Discus Throw with a toss of 132-00. White County's Rachel Gearing would make her way to sectionals in the Girls Triple Jump with a top jump of 36-06.75 while Marist's Carter Daniels would move on in the Boys Pole Vault clearing 11-06.00. The 4A Region 7 Finals will continue on Thursday at Blessed Trinity.
