Lobo's 2 Goals Lead Mustangs To First State Title Win As Meadowcreek Defeats Pebblebrook 2-0 In
Saturday night the Meadowcreek Mustangs faced the Pebblebrook Falcons to determine the first ever Georgia High School Association Class 7A Boys Soccer Champion. In the first half, the Mustangs would control the ball a good portion of the period and both teams would get some good looks at scoring opportunities, however each coming up short.
But at the 15:07 mark of the first half, the Mustangs would go one up on the Falcons as #20 Maverick Lobo’s kick would go straight down the middle for the score and Meadowcreek taking a 1-0 lead.
The Mustangs would take a couple more shots before the half came to an end but would have to settle for their one point advantage at the half. In the second half, the Mustangs were more controlling on the offensive end and would finally break through the Pebblebrook defense as Lobo would scissor kick the ball into the net and score his second goal of the game as the Mustangs were now up 2-0 with 29-55 remaining in the second half.
Much like the first half, both teams would have a few good looks to score but were unable to find the net and it would be the Meadowcreek Mustangs taking the crown as the first ever GHSA 7A Boys State Champions as they win by a final score of 2-0.
The win is also the first State Title win in soccer for the Mustangs.
