SoCal's Village Christian Cancels 2017 Football Season
On Monday, due to a large decrease in players, Village Christian School out of Sun Valley, California, has opted to cancel its entire 2017 football season. Players at VC were notified a few weeks ago about the possibility of the program being terminated which led to several student athletes transferring, including five of those heading to Encino Crespi, a traditionally top program in southern California. The school does plan on reinstating its football program in 2018 as they currently have 50 students participating in their middle school football program. Some do question if VC hurt their season by giving the players so much advanced warning. Had they been able to hold onto 10 of the transfers, their 2017 season would have been able to survive. VC Athletics thanked families for standing by the football program in a letter posted on the school's website.
