Corky Kell Classic Luncheon Kicks Off New Season, New Location
On Wednesday, the annual Corky Kell Classic Luncheon, which signifies the start of one of the country's most notable high school football classics, took place with hundreds in attendance. Coaches, players, and teams from around Georgia made their way to Atlanta for the luncheon and some of those in on hand were members of Kell family, representatives from the various 2016 Georgia High School Association High School Football State Championship teams, and the 2017 Corky Kell Super 11.
Cartersville's Trevor Lawrence, who led the Hurricanes to the 2016 GHSA 4A State Title and Brookwood's Matthew Hill were among those in attendance.
The event was also highlighted by the honoring of former coaches Ray Broadway and Kevin Maloof. Maloof's brother Keith is the head coach of the Norcross Blue Devils, who will face Colquitt County in the Corky Kell Classic which begins on Thursday, August 17 in Macon, Georgia.
On Friday and Saturday, August 18th and 19th, the Classic will shift to Atlanta, where games will be played in the new Georgia State University football stadium, formally Turner Field, where the Atlanta Braves played from 1997 to 2016. Watch Corky Kell Luncheon moments below now!
