Trojans Improve To 2-0 As Banneker Gets 44-14 Win Over Fayette County

Friday night lights continued in Atlanta, Georgia as the Banneker Trojans hosted the Fayette County Tigers. The Trojans, coming off a week one 24-12 victory, were looking to start the season 2-0 under new head coach Mario Allen. Meanwhile, the Tigers were coming off a 35-6 week one loss to Chapel Hill and hoped to even up their record with a win on the night.

However, the Trojans would be the ones to get the momentum going in their favor early on the first play of their first possession after a 60 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dionte Bonneau to Tarique Dennis as Banneker would take an early 7-0 lead. Banneker's defense wold then return to the field and force the Tigers to punt but a high snap over the punters head would lead to a safety and the Trojans would go up 9-0 in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, trailing 16-0, Fayette County would finally get on the scoreboard after a one yard rushing touchdown by Jalil Dabney to make it a 16-6 game but the Trojans would answer right back on the ensuing kickoff when Kobe Harris would return the kickoff 80 yards for the score and the Trojans would take a 23-6 lead into the locker room at the half. In the second half, Banneker continued to have momentum on their side as they would take a 30-6 lead courtesy of a pick six by Trevon Pope.

In the fourth quarter, Harris would score once again for Banneker, this time on the ground for the rushing touchdown and the Trojans would go up 37-6. Later in the fourth quarter Gary Benton would give the Trojans a 44-6 lead after another rushing touchdown for Banneker and the Trojans would go on to win by a final score of 44-14 and improve to 2-0 to start the season.
