Tigers Roar Past Hornets As Temple Sweeps South Atlanta To Advance To Second Round of GHSA State Pla
Open Wednesday, the opening round of the Georgia High School Association softball state playoffs got underway and in Class 2A action, the South Atlanta Hornets hosted the Temple Tigers.
In game one of the best of three series, the Tigers would take an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning but the Hornets would score in the bottom of the first to tie the game and making it a 1-1 score going into the top of the second inning.
And it would be in the top of the second inning that the Tiger's bats would get hot starting with an RBI single with bases loaded for Aubrey Stockton to give Temple a 2-1 lead. The next batter for the Tigers would be Green's second at bat and this time she would connect for a two run RBI single to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead and Temple would go on to take a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the second inning.
After holding the Hornets scoreless in the bottom of the second inning, the Tigers would explode once again in the top of the third inning and score 11 runs including five consecutive RBI doubles as Temple would go on to win game one by a final score of 17-1. In game two Temple would score 12 runs in the first inning and go on to win 16-1, sweeping the Hornets to advance to the second round of the GHSA softball 2A state playoffs where they will face Armuchee.
