Nation's No. 2 Team, Walton Advances To GHSA 7A Volleyball Semi-Finals With 3-0 Win Over South F
On Saturday, the Georgia High School Association girls volleyball Class 7A championship bracket begin play and the number two team in the country, the Walton Raiders hosted the South Forsyth War Eagles. In set one, the War Eagles give the Raiders a run as they would keep pace with Walton, taking the lead several times as the set remained close through a 13-13 tie.
But the Raiders would eventually gain control of the set taking a 16-13 lead and going on to win set one by a score of 25-17. In set two, Walton would jump out to a 5-0 lead and never look back as they would go on to win the set 25-13.
In set three, the War Eagles looked to keep things close early, but Walton, led by Gabby Gonzales and Riley Spurlin, would take a 3-2 lead and increase that to a 7-2 lead. South Forsyth would get withing three making it a 7-4 lead for the Raiders, but Gonzales and crew proved to be too much of a force for the War Eagles as Walton would win set three 25-13 to advance to the GHSA girls volleyball 7A semi-finals.
