Extra Innings and Walk Off RBI Double From Chayce Bryant Gives Redan a 3-2 Win Over Locust Grove
In a non-region match up, the Redan Raiders and the Locust Grove Wolverines went head to head as both teams gear up for their respective region tournaments. With the Georgia High School Association baseball state playoffs around the corner, both the Raiders and the Wolverines looked to make deeper runs than they did in the 2017 campaign.
The Raiders were knocked out in the quarter finals while the Wolverines fell to Wayne County in the semi finals. As the game got underway, the Wolverines would score first in the top of the first inning after pitcher Nolan Crisp would connect for an RBI single with two outs and a runner at third with Taj Bradley on the mound for the Raiders, to take a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the second inning, the Wolverines would strike again as Josh Newton would step to the plate with one out and bases loaded and come up with a RBI single and Locust Grove would take a 2-0 lead. Bradley and the Raiders would settle in and keep the Wolverines scoreless over the next couple of innings and in the bottom of the fourth, would even up the game thanks to a two run blast over the fence in center field by catcher Orlando Adams.
With the game tied up at 2-2, the contest would go into extra innings and in the bottom of the ninth inning, Redan's Chayce Bryant would drill one deep to left field for a walk off RBI double to give the Raiders a 3-2 win. Despite the loss, Crisp would finish the night striking out six Redan batters and going 4-5 at the plate. Watch highlights from the game below now!
