Newton High School’s Ashton Hagans Announces Kentucky Commitment

On Tuesday morning, five star point guard, Ashton Hagans from Newton High School in Covington, Georgia announced his commitment to the University of Kentucky. The 6-4 junior point guard made his announcement early Tuesday morning via Twitter a month after rescinding his commitment from the University of Georgia following the firing of Mark Fox. “I felt Coach Cal and his staff could take my game to a different level” Hagans said following his announcement. He also added that Calipari’s history of sending guards to the league was one of the reason he sought an offer from Kentucky. Hagans had also received an offer from Louisiville following Chris Mack’s agreement to become the Cardinal’s new head coach. Hagans said that he also considered Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Marquette. Should Hagans decide to reclassify, this would allow enroll early and play for the Wildcats next season however Hagans was not able to issue any further statements at the time.
