Marist 14-5 Win Over Grady Keeps Them In Hunt For Playoff Top Seed, Zack Pacheco, Jack Cofer 3 Goals
On Wednesday, the Grady Knights and the Marist War Eagles faced off in a pivotal Georgia High School Association 1A-5A Area 1 match up. Both teams had only one loss in the area standings and a win by either team would keep them in the hunt for a top spot in the final region standings.
In the first quarter, Grady would look good early on, taking a 2-1 lead and later going up 3-1 at the start of the second quarter but the War Eagles would get their offense clicking on all cylinders soon after, reeling off seven unanswered goals to take a 8-3 lead into the locker room at the half.
In the third quarter, the War Eagles would tag on six more goals and take a commanding 14-3 lead as eight players would score for Marist, including Zack Pacheco and Jack Cofer, who each scored three goals.
The win keeps the War Eagles in line to potentially land a top two spot in the final area standings should St. Pius X or Woodward Academy, who both have no loses in area standing, stumble down the stretch. Meanwhile, for Grady, the loss means they will need to win their match against Decatur next week to make their way into the playoffs. Watch highlights from the game below now!
