Heritage Patriots' JaQuez Hicks Signs With Cleveland St. Cougars
On Monday, the Heritage Patriots own JaQuez Hicks signed his letter of intent with the Cleveland State Cougars. Hicks' signing took place at the Heritage campus as his parents along with several other family members, teachers and classmates, his Heritage basketball coach, assistant coaches from Cleveland St. and his AAU coach all in attendance for for Hicks' big day.
Following the signing of the 6-foot-8, 185 pound forward/center, members of Hicks' family spoke with Prep Sports Nation, "it's an exciting day! His parents are proud, we're all proud," said Hicks' aunt Shawan Baptiste. "JaQuez has always been very talented in a lot of areas from music and on, but we knew at an early age sports would be his thing."
Hicks' high school coach, Vernon Denmark also chimed in, "it's always good to see one of your players go to the next level. JaQuez has worked really hard and has come a long way being a late blummer." Denmark was referring to the fact that Hicks has only been playing organized basketball since the tenth grade, so his just beginning to scratch the surface of his talents.
