Westminster Erupts For Five Runs In Third Inning, Defeats Ringgold 5-3 To Take GHSA 3A Semifinal Gam

With the end of the Georgia High School Association baseball season closing in, the Westminster Wildcats hosted the Ringgold Tigers in a 3A best of three semifinal series. In the top of the first inning, Daulton Schley would give the Tigers an early 2-0 lead after he drilled a two run homerun over the right field green wall.

Neither team would muster up any points in the second inning, but in the bottom of the third inning, the Wildcats' bats would catch fire as Peter York would connect for an RBI single to put Westminster on the board as they trailed 2-1. Later, with no outs and runners at first and second, Parks Harber would come up with a two run double to give the Wildcats a 3-2 lead.

The Wildcats would not stop there as Jack Polhemus would take advantage of a one out bases loaded situation as he stepped to the plate and connected for the second two run double of the inning and Westminster jumped out to a 5-2 lead. In the top of the fifth inning, the Tigers would get one run back after a Camp RBI double, but that would be all Ringgold would be able to come up with.

In the top of the seventh, with Luke Janetta still on the mound, the Tigers would be three up and three down as Janetta would get all three batters to fly out to end the game as the Wildcats would take game one 5-3 to take a 1-0 series lead. Watch highlights from the game below now!
