Lambert Remains Undefeated, Headed To GHSA 6A-7A Finals With 15-14 OT Win Over Centennial
On Wednesday, two of the top high school lacrosse programs in Georgia went head to head as the Centennial Knights (19-2 going into the match) hosted the Lambert Longhorns (20-0 going into the match) in the Georgia High School Association 6A-7A semifinals. The Knights would hop out to an early 2-0 lead after back to back goals by Colin Hall and Ryan Siracusa.
However, Lambert would quickly answer back and do so with authority as they would go on a 9-2 run to close out the first half with a 9-4 lead. Three of the Longhorns first half goals would come from Ryan Overbay and two from Gerard Kane. Centennial would go on a run of their own as they would outscore the Longhorns 6-1 to start the third period and tie the game up at 10-10.
In the fourth period, Centennial would go up by as many as two, but the Longhorns would eventually tie the game up 14-14 with :15 remaining in regulation. In the sudden overtime period, Lambert would win the face off and a penalty on the Knights ensure the Longhorns would get the first chance to break the tie and win the game.
And that is exactly what take place as Benny O'Rourk would score for Lambert and they would get the 15-14 win and advance to the GHSA 6A-7A championship game. Watch highlights of the game below now!
