Knights Ready To Defend As Pace Academy Defeats North Atlanta 5-0 in Preseason Scrimmage
The past two seasons, the Pace Academy Lady Knights have made the trip to the Georgia High School Association 3A state championship, with only 2017 resulting in a title win setting up a 2018 season as defending champs for the Knights.
With the start of the regular season about a week away for the Knights, the got back into action on the court in a preseason five set scrimmage against the North Atlanta Warriors and it would be all Knights the entire way as the would win all five sets by at least nine points or more.
Senior Alexandra Baker would put on a strong display from the outside hitter position as well as junior Lucy Ferry from the opposite and middle blocker positions. After winning the first set convincing by a final of 25-10, the Knights would get out to early 5-1 lead in set two, but the Warriors would manage to quickly climb back into the set as they tied up the score 8-8.
However, Pace would fight off the North Atlanta short rally and pull away for a 25-16 win in the second set. They go on to win sets three, four and five as well to get the 5-0 win.
After the game, Knights head coach, Anna Bush spoke with Prep Sports Nation about this year's team being proud to win the school's first ever state title but also the importance of putting that win behind them and staying focused on the new season game by game.
