12-0 Game Two Win Over Westminster Pushes Jackson County Into Second Round of GHSA State Playoffs
With weather related to Hurricane Michael affecting high school sports around the state of Georgia, game two of the best of three series between the Westminster Wildcats and the Jackson County Panthers in the opening round of the Georgia High School Association state playoffs would be rescheduled to Thursday afternoon and it would be a must win situation for the Wildcats after dropped game one 12-1 to the Panthers on Wednesday.
Knowing that the Wildcats were in desperation mode, the Panthers got their bats going early as they jumped out to a 5-0 in the bottom of the first inning. As they did in game one, Westminster struggled to get any offensive production as Jackson County pitcher Sara Beth Allen and the Panthers defense were able to keep the Wildcats off the board.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Panthers would add another five runs to take a 10-0 lead and go on to win by a final of 12-0. The win helped Jackson County complete the sweep of Westminster and move them on to the second round of the GHSA state playoffs where they will face Calhoun. Watch highlights from the game below now!
