History Making Night Sees Blue Devils Hold Off Indians As Marietta Defeats McEchern 28-21


In Friday night lights high school football action, the Marietta Blue Devils hit the road to take on rival, the McEachern Indians. This would be the first time that the Blue Devils would take to the field without Tennessee commit, Ramel Keyton, who broke his leg last week and will miss the remainder of the season.

Despite, his star wide out being out of commission, Marietta quarterback Harrison Bailey quickly found a new favorite target as he connected with Arik Gilbert a couple of times on the opening drive, including a five yard touchdown pass that would give the Blue Devils an early 7-0 lead. The Indians would tie up the game 7-7 thanks to a rushing touchdown by Jordan Simmons but would quickly find themselves in a 21-7 deficit following a pick six by the Blue Devils defense a rushing touchdown by Kimani Vidal.

The Indians would manage to score just beore the half and again at the start of the third quarter to tie the game 21-21, but later trailing 28-21, the Indians' Paris Brown, who surpassed 3,000 career rushing yards on the night, would punch his way into the end zone but a missed extra point attempt would have the Indians trailing 28-27, which would be the final score as Marietta picked up their first win over McEachern in 10 years.
