Bulldogs Remain Unbeaten As Dutchtown Defeats Stockbridge 21-14, Takes First In GHSA 5A Region 4


In Friday Night Lights action, rivals, the Stockbridge Tigers and the Dutchtown Bulldogs went head to head in a battle of undefeated teams. Fresh off their bye weeks, both teams came into the match up with 7-0 records but tonight's winner would take sole possession of first place in the Georgia High School Association Class 5A Region 4 standings. As expected both teams came out swinging as they exchanged scores in the first half.

In the first quarter, the Bulldogs would get on the board first on their opening drive courtesy of a Kevon Glenn rushing touchdown on second and goal. On the ensuing possession, the Tigers would march down the field and answer back after Jevon McDonald connected with Isaiah Taylor for a 20 yard touchdown pass and tying up the game at 7-7. In the second quarter, Dutchtown would regain the lead after Chris Coneway leaped over the pile and the goal line for the touchdown and the Bulldogs would go up 14-7.

But not to be undone, the Tigers would respond by scoring when McDonald later connected with Kerick Reese for another 20 yard touchdown pass and the score would even up 14-14. Penalties would cause both teams some offensive difficulties as the game would remain tied throughout the third quarter but in the fourth quarter, Dutchtown's Nate McCollum would break for a big rushing touchdown to help give the Bulldogs a 21-14 lead. Dutchtown's defense would then pick up the intensity and not allow the Tigers to score and the Bulldogs would pick up the 21-14 win. The win improves Dutchtown to 8-0 and gives puts them in the top spot in the region standings. Watch highlights from the game below now!
