Panthers End Two Game Skid As Therrell Defeats Washington 54-44
On Friday, in girls basketball action, the Therrell Lady Panthers hosted the Washington Lady Bulldogs looking to end their two game losing streak. The Bulldogs themselves were looking to turn things around having lost their last four contest. In the first quarter, the two teams would trade baskets keeping the game close as the opening quarter would end tied up 13-13.
In the second quarter, the Panthers would go up 17-13 but the Bulldogs would then out score Therrell 8-3 including Dashe Williams' go ahead bucket to give Washington a 21-20 lead. In the third quarter, Therrell's Shatonna Crockett would give the Panthers the spark they needed to break the 23-23 tie as she would lead Therrell on an 11-2 run to help the Panthers take a 34-25 lead late in the period.
The Bulldogs would respond opening the fourth quarter by outscoring Therrell 7-2 but Crockett and the Panthers would with stand the late run by the Bulldogs and go on to pick up the 54-44 win making it two straight wins for Therrell and the Panthers improving to 3-1 in region play.
