Wolves Survive Late Wildcat Attack As Buford Defeats Wheeler 77-74
On the opening day of the Hawks-Naismith Holiday Classic, the Buford Wolves put their 6-0 record on the line in a match up against the 9-1 Wheeler Wildcats. In the first quarter, led by Jaire Eastmond (22 points), the Wildcats get out to an 8-4 lead and go on to outscore the Wolves 12-8 in the opening period.
In the second quarter, Donall Nixon (14 points) and Marcus Watson (31 points) would help spark the Wolves offense as they would outscore Wheeler 20-14 in the second period and 18-14 in the third period. Trailing 46-40 heading into the fourth quarter, the Wildcats would redeem themselves and outscore Buford 24-18 with the help of Malachi Rhodes (16 points), who went on a tear in the fourth, and tie the game up and send it into overtime. The Wolves would win the extra period and pick up the game win 77-74 to improve to 7-0 to start the season. Watch highlights below now!
