Lions Improve To 13-0 As Westlake Defeats Florida State High School 81-58
On Friday, the annual She Got Game girl's high school basketball classic kicked off in Atlanta with the opening game featuring the undefeated Westlake Lions taking on the Florida State High School Seminoles. The contest would remain close throughout the first two quarters as the lead would exchange several times keeping the score close.
However, late in the second quarter, West;lake's Ravin Johnson (21 points) would would give the Lions a spark as she would score six straight points and the game would be tied 34-34 at the half. The momentum Johnson gave the Lions continued in the third quarter as Lydia Johnson (20 points) would break the tie giving the Lions a 37-34 lead after getting fouled and scoring, making good on the free throw.
Later in the third quarter, Westlake's Brianna Turnage (22 points), who would be named player of the game, would start to heat up helping the Lions secure the 81-58 win. The Seminoles would get solid production from Tonie Morgan (21 points) and Jordan Rosier (27 points) but that would not be enough to end the Lions' so far perfect season.
