Jaguars Win Second Region Match Up of the Week As Maynard Jackson Defeats Decatur 73-59

On Friday, the Maynard Jackson Jaguars boys basketball team visited the Decatur Bulldogs for their second region match up of the week. On Tuesday, the Jaguars defeated Lithia Springs 86-81 to take the top spot in the Georgia High School Association Class 5A Region 6 standings and looked to improve to 7-1 in the standings with a win over Decatur.

In the first quarter, after the Bulldogs got on the board first, taking a 2-0 lead, the Jaguars would hit three consecutive three point baskets to take a 9-4 lead. In the second quarter, Maynard Jackson would go up 18-11 but the Bulldogs go on a 9-3 run to cut the Jaguars lead to 21-20.

Later in the third quarter, the Jaguars would find themselves up 12 after a three point basket by LaDarius Ruben Jr. and Maynard Jackson would later go up by as much as 20 points before finishing the game with a 73-59 win over the Bulldogs. Watch highlights from the game below!
