Falcons Even Up Season Series As Pebblebrook Defeats Westlake 64-60
On Wednesday, the Westlake Lions boys basketball team hosted region rival the Pebblebrook Falcons. Heading into the match up, the Falcons sat in second place of the Georgia High School Association Class 7A Region 2 standings and one game back of the region leader, East Coweta. Meanwhile, the Lions were in fourth place.
Back on January 11th, the Lions defeated Pebblebrook 70-63, so the Falcons were looking to even up the season series with Westlake by picking up a win. As expected, the contest would remain close throughout most of the night with the largest lead of the night being an eight point lead for Westlake in the third quarter. However, in the fourth quarter, after trailing 49-45, Pebblebrook would outscore Westlake 8-3, including back to back three point baskets by Danny Stubbs, to take a 53-52 lead.
Westlake's Chase Hunter would eventually put the Lions back up by two points after knocking down a three pointer of hi own, but after the game was tied at 56-56, Pebblebrook's Tyler Shirley would score four unanswered points to give the Falcons a 60-56 lead and the Falcons would go on to pick up the 64-60 win, evening up the season series and guaranteeing themselves at least a two seed for the region tournament.
