Southwest Dekalb Sweet 16 Bound After 56-31 Win Over Cedar Shoals
As the Georgia High School Association basketball state playoffs kicked off on Friday, in girl's 5A action, the Southwest Dekalb Panthers hosted the Cedar Shoals Jaguars.
As the game got underway, the Jaguars would take a 4-2, but that would be the only lead Cedar Shoals would see thorough out the contest as the Panthers would go on a 12-2 run to take a 14-6 lead to end the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Jaguars would get within four after a three point basket by Jayla Allen cut the Southwest Dekalb lead to 16-12 but the Panthers would outscore Cedar Shoals 7-4 down the stretch of the period to hold a 23-16 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Panthers would out score the Jaguars 16-6 to increase their lead to 39-22 at the end of the period. In the fourth quarter, Lanee Edwards would help push Southwest Dekalb to a 56-31 win. Watch highlights from the game below now!
