Lovett Uses Overtime Period To Pick Up 3-2 Win Over Pace Academy, Moves Into Second Place In Region


On Thursday, the Pace Academy Knights hosted the the Lovett Lions in a region rivalry match up with the winner taking over second place in the standings and remaining one game behind the region leading Westminster Wildcats. In the first half, the Lions would quickly jump out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by Cyrus Walls.

But as they half progressed, Pace's defense would slow the Lions down, while the Knight's offense would gain momentum scoring two goals, one by Jorge Gonzales Hernandez and another by Juan Figueroa as Pace held a 2-1 lead at the half.

In the second half, both teams would be aggressive offensively getting several shots on goal, however neither team could manage to score before the half ended sending the game into overtime. In the OT period, Lovett would set up for a corner kick with just under five minute to play and Lucas Hyman would score off the kick putting the Lions up 3-2 which would be the final score.
