Sharife Cooper, Issac Okoro, Walker Kessler Named To All-USA Georgia Boys Basketball Team
On Tuesday, USA Today High School Sports released its list of All-USA State Boys Basketball Teams and Georgia's first team nominees included two members of the 2018-2019 Georgia High School Association Class 7A State Championship team, the McEachern Indians. Sharife Cooper, who was also named the All-USA National Player of the Year, while McEachern head coach, Mike Thompson was given the All-USA National Coach of the Year honors.
Cooper, class of 2020, averaged 28.6 points and 8.7 assist per game in the 2018-2019 season. Joining Cooper is his teammate, Auburn signee, Issac Okoro. Okoro averaged 19.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game this past season. Okoro was also named the GHSA 7A South Player of the Year. Woodward Academy's Walker Kessler was also named to the first team.
Kessler's 21 points and 11.9 points per game this past season garnered visits from colleges coaches from around the country including North Carolina's Roy Williams. Georgia Bulldog signee Anthony Edwards, who was also named to the USA Today All-USA first team, will also join Kessler and company. Edwards averaged 29 points and 9 rebounds per game in his senior season. Rounding out the first team is Norcross' Brandon Boston.
Boston continues the Norcross tradition of producing highly sought after recruits as the junior has received offers from Duke, Kentucky, Auburn, and Alabama. Second team honors went to Buford's Marcus Watson, Grayson's Deivon Smith, Meadowcreek's Jamir Chaplin, and Norcross' Kyle Sturdivant.
