Lovett Girls Tennis Defeats Westminster 3-1, Advances To GHSA 3A Title Match
On Monday, the Georgia High School Association tennis playoffs continued and in 3A action, the Lovett Lions hosted the Westminster Wildcats in a semi finals match up. Ann Wright Guerry would quickly put the Wildcats up 1-0 after winning the singles one over Hunter Pulliam 6-0, 6-0. However, wins in singles three and doubles two for the Lions would give Lovett a 2-1 lead in the match.
With singles two and doubles one still up for grabs, action in singles two would get exciting as Lovett's Emma McHale and Westminster's Charlotte Ficery battled. Mchale would win set one but would find herself trailing 5-3 in set two.
After winning three straight points, McHale would take a 6-5 lead, however, Ficery would win the next point forcing a tie breaker. In the tie breaker, McHale would be victorious, winning 7-3 to help Lovett win the match 3-1 and pushing the Lions into the GHSA 3A championship match against Pace.
