Strong First Half For Parkview Panthers In 4-1 Win Over Milton, Advances To GHSA 7A Elite 8
On Wednesday, the Parkview Panthers girls soccer team hosted the Milton Eagles in the second round of the Georgia High School Association 7A state playoffs. The match up was a rematch from the 2018 GHSA 7A state championship game in which Parkview defeated Milton 2-0 for the title.
The Panthers set the tone early with an aggressive offense as Nieva Gaither (1 goal) helped Parkview get some good looks early on in the contest. But it would be a penalty kick by Gaither that would put the Panthers on the board first, giving them a 1-0 lead and sparking their offense as Molly Hickman and Sabrina Martul (2 goals) would each score in the first half to put the Panthers up 3-0.
Martul would connect for her second goal of the game in the second half and Parkview would go on to pick up the 4-1 and advance to the GHSA 7A Elite 8. Gaither did suffer an apparent injury in the first and did not return to action, however following the game, Parkview head coach Judson Hamby said Gaithers absence from the remainder of the contest was more precautionary actions and not a injury severity issue.
