Parkview's Nieva Gaither Earns Second Straight Gatorade Honor
As the Gatorade Company continues to honor student athletes for the 34th year, on Wednesday they announced the Gatorade Georgia Girls Soccer Player of the Year and the honor went to Parkview’s Nieva Gaither. This marks the second consecutive year that Gaither has earned the honor, joining Kelley Lynch (softball) and Omar Hernandez (boy’s soccer) as the state other recent back to winners of the award. Gaither, a rising senior, tallied 37 goals along with 11 assist this past season and helped lead the Panthers to the Georgia High School Association Class 7A semi-finals. Gaither show true heart this season after tearing a ligament in the second round of the GHSA 7A state playoffs against Milton, but was able to return to action in their semi-final match against North Gwinnett and scored two goals in the loss. In the classroom, Gaither also performs at a high level as she has maintained a 3.97 grade point average. Gaither has already verbally committed to play soccer at Furman University.
