Greater Atlanta Christian's Jasmine Jones Earns Gatorade Honors
On Thursday, the Gatorade Company continued its 34 year celebration of student athletes and announced the 2018-2019 Gatorade Georgia Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year recipient and this year's award went to Greater Atlanta Christian's Jasmine Jones. Jones, a rising senior finished out her junior season winning the Georgia High School Association 3A state championship in the 200 meter dash, 100 meter hurdles, and long jump. Jones was also apart of the 4 x 400 meter and 4 x 100 meter relay teams, each taking first at the GHSA 3A state championship as the Spartans went on to win the girls state title. Jones now hold the GHSA 3A state records in the 100 meter hurdles, 300 mete hurdles and the long jump and her performance in the classroom was just as excellent, as she maintained a 4.40 grade point average.
