Southwest Dekalb Ground Game Key In 46-6 Win Over Redan, Mekhi Gilstrap Three Rushing Tuchdowns
On Friday, the Southwest Dekalb Panthers football team hosted the Redan Raiders as each team entered the contest with 2-1 records and both coming off wins in week two of the season.
The Panthers would establish their ground game early thanks to a 60 yard touchdown run by Mekhi Gilstrap early on in the first quarter as Southwest Dekalb would take a 7-0 lead. Later in the quarter, junior quarterback Rion White would pick up the second touchdown of the night for the Panthers off a quarterback keeper up the middle on second and goal and SWD would take a 14-0 lead.
As the Raiders struggled to get any production from their offense, the Panthers would continue their down hill attack as an 11 yard touchdown run by Gilstrap late in the first quarter would help SWD take a 20-0 lead. Gilstrap would go on to rush for his third touchdown of the night in the third quarter while White would earn one in the air as the Panthers would go on to pick up the 46-6 win over Redan.
