Shiloh Holds Off South Gwinnett For 29-26 Win In Key Region Match Up

On Friday, the Shiloh Generals football team hit the road to take on their region rival, the South Gwinnett Comets in a match up that would see the winner improving to 2-1 in region play and keeping pace with the region leader, the Grayson Rams. As the game got underway, the Comets would get on the scoreboard first as quarterback Tre Truitt connected with Corey Johnston for a touchdown pass and South Gwinnett would find themselves up 6-0 early in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Generals would get a their first of two defensive touchdowns when Minnesota commit, Dakota Thomas would scoop up a fumble by the Comets and return it for a touchdown and Shiloh would take a 7-6 lead. In the third quarter, the Comets would start off they way they did in the first quarter, by scoring on their opening drive of the period as Deon Downer would leap into the end zone for a rushing touchdown and giving the Comets a 12-7 lead.

However, back to back touchdowns by Shiloh would put them back on top 21-12 before South Gwinnett would respond, scoring on a kickoff return. South Gwinnett would trail 21-20 heading into the fourth quarter, when Truitt would score on a quarterback keeper, as the Comets would take a 26-21 lead. But a rushing touchdown by Arthur Rodgers and a two point conversion later, the Generals would regain the lead and go on to pick up the 29-26 win. Watch highlights from the game below now!
