Panthers, Hornets Give Thrilling Preview of Possible Region Championship As Therrell Defeats South A

On Tuesday, the Therrell Panthers hit the road to take on their region rival the South Atlanta Hornets in their first meeting since last year's region championship game game in which the Panthers fell 61-58. In the first quarter, the Panthers would open up on a 10-3 run but the Hornets would battle back with a 6-1 run of their own to trail 11-9 late in the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, Monykuoch Deng would knock down three 3 point baskets, including one with time expiring in the period, to spark the South Atlanta offense as they trailed 30-27 at the half. The Hornets would keep momentum in their favor in the third quarter as they would outscore the Panthers 18-8 in the period to lead 45-38 heading into the fourth quarter. However in the fourth quarter, the Panthers defense would force the Hornets into several turnovers allowing them to battle back and go on to pick up the 58-54 win.
