Chapel Hill's Jaylen Slade Named Gatorade Georgia Boys Track And Field Athlete Of The Year
On Monday, the Gatorade Company continued their 35th year of awarding the nation's top student athletes and announced Chapel Hill's Jaylen Slade the Gatorade Georgia Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Although the 2020 high school season never got into full gear for Slade, a rising junior, he was able to post personal best during the 2020 indoor season. At the USATF Galleria Games, Slade ran a winning time of 47.59 in the 400-meter dash which ranked as the No. 2 national time for prep indoor runners. Slade also ran a first place time of 21.35 in the 200 at the Showdown at the Complex and capped his 2019 high school season with wins in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash at the Georgia High School Association Class 4A state championship. Slade is ranked the No. 1 class of 2022 recruit in the nation.
