Tennessee Pushes High School Fall Sports Season Start Date Back
On Monday, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee extended the state of emergency in through August 29th which means competitions for high school fall sports has also have been delayed. Following the announcement, Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Executive Director, Bernard Childress, released a statement to member schools informing them that under the Governor's restrictions, competitions and scrimmages with other schools will not be permitted and close contact activities will not be allowed during fundamental practices for football, 7-on-7 football, girls soccer, basketball, and wrestling. The Governor's order means that the start of football and girl's soccer will be delayed until August as well. Childress added that they are working on alternate schedule options in the event that the Governor's order remains in place through August.
