California, Georgia Delay High School Football Starts


On Monday, the California Interscholastic Federation announced that their high school sports season would be delayed until December, possibly January due to COVID-19. "This is the best possible plan we have with what's going on to give students an opportunity to participate." Los Angeles City Section commissioner Vicky Lagos told reporters. With the new CIF calendar, football practice will begin December 14 and games will will start January 8. Meanwhile, the Georgia High School Association announced their 2020 football season would be delayed two weeks starting on September 4, 2020 with a complete 10 week season and the normal five weeks of playoffs with practices beginning on July 27. All other GHSA fall sports will start at current schedule start dates.
