The Brookwood Broncos swimming and diving teams have been one of the top programs in the state of Georgia throughout the 2000's with a combined 15 state championships between the boys and girls team heading into Saturday's Georgia High School Association Class 6A state title competition.

With the Brookwood girls looking to successfully defend their 2024 title and the boys looking to capture their first title since 2019, the Broncos would dominate the water winning both 6A championships as the girls tallied 427.0 points, while the boys finished with 409.0n points, mark the first time since 2019 both Brookwood swim and dive teams captured simultaneous state titles.

"To win a meet like this it takes our freshman all the way to our seniors," Brookwood head coach, Will Hildebrand said following Saturday's championship, as he praised the Broncos' swimmers and divers for their performances at Friday's prelims and Saturday's finals. "We have phenomenal leaders, phenomenal seniors, a great coaching staff and there is no one swimmer or one event that won this, it was everybody," Hildebrande add.

Of those notable leaders, Georgia commit and senior, Hailey Hopson successfully defended her 2024 backstroke championship with a first place finish in a time of 55.13, while junior and Cal commit, Baylor Stanton, who participated in the 2024 summer Olympic trials, also defending his 2024 state championship with his first place finish in a time of 47.46.

The Broncos would find success in multiple relay races as well, including the girls 4x50M relay, which the girls would set a new school record with a time of 1:35.57. "You don't ever want to act like you're going to get this every year. This is something special and it starts before the season starts," Hildebrand said of the Broncos wins which he credited his team for their closeness in playing a role in their success.

"These kids are a family. They all love each other, they're in classes together, they grew up together and it starts from summer league early on and it's not just four years of high school. It's not easy, so we're enjoying it," Hildebrand said.
