Campbell played 'the way they know how' in wins over Sprayberry, South Cobb
On Thursday, the Campbell Spartans volleyball team hosted the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets and the South Cobb Eagles in a tri-match as the Spartans looked to bend their two game losing streak. Getting the started with the Yellow Jackets, the Spartans found themselves holding off Sprayberry in set one, as they picked up the win 25-22. However, set two would be a little more convincingly in favor of Campbell as they would take set two 25-15.
In their second match of the day, the Spartans would nearly mimic their performance against Sprayberry when they faced South Cobb. Set one would go to the Spartans as thy picked up the 25-21 win. Set two would get off to a close start that included the Eagles leading Campbell for the first time of the time when they took a 3-2 lea. However, that lead would not last long as the Spartans would take the next two points and eventually pull away for the 25-16 win of the set, taking the match 2-0.
“The girls finally relaxed and played their game the way they know how, the way they’re capable,” Campbell head coach Cory Barrow said after the wins on Thursday. Barrow continued that at times, his players have a mindset of being able to “turn it on and off and we’ve got to get to where we just consistently play our game and let the other team adjust to our game,” Barrow added. With the wins, the Spartans improve to 5-5 on the season and will look to keep their streak going when they get back to action next week when they host KIPP and Douglas County.
