Carrollton Improves To 15-1 With QwikCuts Classic Win Over Newton
On Saturday, the Carrollton Trojans took their six game win streak and 14-1 record on the road to face the Newton Rams in the 2021 Qwikcuts Classic, which was hosted by the Archer Tigers. After Newton’s Kyla Price would know down a three point basket to cut Carrollton’s lead to 4-3, the Trojans would go on a 13-0 run to take a 17-3. Carrollton would close out the first quarter with a 19-9 lead. In the second quarter, the Rams continued to battled back from deficits and get within four, but the Trojans would once again pull away and to end the half with a 30-21 lead. In the third period, the Trojans continued to apply full court pressure throughout the period, which proved to be too much for the young Rams team to break through as they would be outscored 22-7 in the period to push the Trojans’ lead to 52-28, a deficit the Rams would not be able to overcome as they would fall 62-41 to Carrollton. Carrollton’s De’Mauri Flournoy would lead the team in scoring with 18 points, while Newton freshman, Sanaa Tripp would lead all players with 22 points.
