Carver holds off Douglas for win and first in region standing
On Tuesday, the Carver Panthers hosted the Douglas Astros in key region matchup as the only two teams still unbeaten in the region standings, therefore the winner would take sole possession of first place. A fairly close contest majority of the night, the Astros would throughout the first quarter and hold an 11-10 lead at the end of the period, however, the Panthers would outscore Douglas 9-7 in the second quarter to take a 19-18 lead into the locker room at the half.
In the third quarter, the Panthers would get into a rhythm as they would outscore the Astros 15-6 in the period and lead by as many as 11 points before closing out the quarter with a 34-23 lead. The Panthers would go on to hold off the Astros for the 38-32 win.
