Chattahoochee Survives Dual With Pope To Advance To GHSA Tennis Semi Finals
On Friday, the Pope Greyhounds boys tennis team hosted the Chattahoochee Cougars in the quarter finals of the Georgia High School Association Class 6A state championship tournament. The Cougars would pick up the first win of the day in two singles as Kyle Compton would have the most dominating win of the day, knocking off Taha Arif 6-0 and 6-2.
In one singles, the story would be different as Pope’s Ryan Grunert and Chattahoochee’s Manas Junghari put on an exciting match. In set one, Junghari jumped out to a 3-1 lead, but Grunert would battle back and eventually tie the set at 5-5. Up 40-30 on set point, Grunert would fail to return a rally and Junghari would take set one 6-5, but Grunert would take sets two and three to win the match and Chattahoochee would eventually win the match up 3-2 to advance to the semi finals.
