Collins Hill Soars To 34-0 Win Over East Coweta, Travis Hunter 3 TD Night
On Friday, the Collins Hill Eagles hosted the East Coweta Indians in a rematch from last season, in which the Eagles fell in double overtime to the Indians. A game that Collins Hill head coach and defensive back, wide receiver Travis Hunter both acknowledged as a loss not so easy to forget and one that gave them plenty of fuel to come out Friday night and make a statement, a 34-0 statement as the Eagles picked up the win to improve to 6-0.
The Indians came out early defensively looking to take Hunter out of the Eagles’ offensive equation, but the Eagles let it be known that Sam Horn had plenty of weapons for their attack as their first score would come in the first quarter as Horn would connect with Cam Pedro on a three yard touchdown pass. The Eagles’ defense was in a very stingy mood on the night as well, not allowing the Indians to establish any type of offensive momentum, pressuring East Coweta quarterback Daniel Shoch all night, limiting the ground game and coming up with two interceptions, including a Hunter pick six.
Hunter would finish with three touchdowns on the night as the Eagles would soar to victory, but for Coach Gregory, although proud of his team’s performance on Friday, there is still some things he would like for his guys to work on as they head into region play. “We’ll go back and look at our mistakes. Our goal every week is to go 1-0 and get one percent better so we’re going to take the mistakes we made this week, we’re going to clean them up, and we’re going to get ready for next week. That’s all we’re worried about,” Gregory said following their win.
The Eagles will head into region play next week when they face Peachtree Ridge and at for the first time in the program’s history will do so with a 6-0 start. Hunter, echoed Gregory’s sentiments in going 1-0 every week when asked about heading into their region match ups. “Erase everything we just did and go 1-0 every week,” Hunter said.
