Eagles flying high as Columbia, Collins Hill and Etowah all pick up PSN Notable Wins of the Week from Week 9

As we inch closer to the end of the regular season and region races tighten up, here are some of the PSN Notable Wins from Week 9:

10. Valdosta def. Colquitt County 7-3 – While it was not a high scoring affair, it was an important win for Valdosta as they ended their four game losing streak to their rival in route to improving to 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in region play and in sole possession of first place in the standings.

9. Etowah def. Wheeler 16-13 – With their second win of the season, the Eagles ended their three game losing streak and while any chance of them reaching the playoffs is more than slim, they made Wheeler’s final two games of the season critical for their chances to remain in the top four spots in the standings.

8. Southwest Dekalb def. Tucker 42-35 – The Panthers avoided dropping out of the top four spots in the region standings thanks to their win over Tucker as they improved to 4-2 in region play and maintain fourth place. Meanwhile, Tucker drops to third in the standings and 4-1 in region play.

7. Westminster def. Kell 16-14 – In addition to ending their two game skid, the Wildcats pulled to 1-1 in the region standings and sit in third place thanks to their win over Kell. With the region composed of just five teams, Westminster should find themselves in postseason play if they can win one of their last two games.

6. Calhoun def. Northwest Whitfield 55-21 – The Yellow Jackets have now won three straight games, all region contest and sit at 3-0 in the standings and in sole possession of first place. Calhoun also knocks Northwest back to 2-2 in region play and on the outside looking in for now as the hold the fifth position in a tight region race.

5. Collins Hill def. Mill Creek 13-12 – With Mill Creek coming into the matchup looking to remain unbeaten in region play, the Eagles picked up a much needed bounce back win which allowed them to take sole possession of second place in the region standings. The Eagles’ win also keeps them in contention for the region championship, but they’ll need some help along the way in addition to finishing strong.

4. Ware County def. Benedictine 38-14 – It has been a bit of a rocky start for the Gators, but with their win over the Cadets, they ended a two game losing streak and open region play with a victory. Ware County has also now won three of their last five meetings with Benedictine after Friday’s victory.

3. Denmark def. Forsyth Central 27-3 – With heavy hearts, the Danes entered Friday’s matchup with teammate, Finley Krutchten, who passed away earlier in the week, on their minds as they picked up the win to improve to 3-1 in region play. With the race for the region title very close, the Danes are still in a position to win the region title, which could come down to their final game of the season against North Atlanta, who currently holds first place in the standings.

2. Sprayberry def. River Ridge 30-27 – The Yellow Jackets win on Friday gave them sole possession of first place in the region standings as well as their fourth consecutive win and improving to 7-1 on the season. The Yellow Jackets will need to keep their win streak going through their final two games in order to claim the region title as standings are still very tight for the top four spots.

1. Columbia def. Miller Grove 34-0 – After an 0-6 start, the Eagles have put together back to back wins and most importantly, both wins against region opponents, making them 2-0 in the region standings as they currently hold the first place position alone.
