Eagles Landing, Millbrook win border battles at Lemon Street Classic

The 2023 Lemon Street Classic was back for three days of boys varsity basketball action, featuring teams from around Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. On day one of the classic, the Eagles Landing Eagles took on the Christ School Greenies (NC) in a game in which the Eagles were in control most of the game despite the Greenies tying the score late in the second quarter and again in the third quarter. However after being knotted up 33 all, the Eagles would close out the period on a 15-6 run to take a 48-39 lead into the fourth quarter and in route to a 66-55 win.

On the second day of the classic, another Georgia, North Carolina matchup took place as Dutchtown took on Millbrook (NC) as Dutchtown would take control early leading most of the first half, however a late surge by the Wildcats would see them take their first lead as they went up 32-31 at the half. In the second half, Millbrook would continue to maintain control and would outscore the Bulldogs 15-6 in the quarter, taking a 47-37 lead into the fourth quarter. Unable to overcome the 10 point deficit, Dutchtown would fall to Millbrook 60-49, ending their six game win streak.

Day three of the Lemon Street Classic continues on Saturday at Marietta High School.
