East Paulding's Justin Williams Chooses West Virginia, "I Want To Be A Mountaineer"
On Monday, East Paulding Raiders running back, Justin Williams closed out his holiday weekend by announcing his commitment to the West Virginia Mountaineers. Heading into the weekend, Williams had tweeted that he would be making his announcement on Monday, which is his mother’s birthday, and at 3PM, Williams chose the Mountaineers ahead of the likes of Michigan State, USC, Arkansas, and Mississippi, just to name a few of the ‘Power 5’ programs seeking to land Williams.
Following his announcement, Williams said that when it came down to his decision, after visiting Morgantown in June, he spoke with his mother upon their return, telling her that he felt like he “was at home” and that she responded to him by telling him that she could tell he was happy while visiting with the Mountaineers. Williams said he told WVU running backs coach, Chad Scott about his decision, saying “I want to be a Mountaineer” and Scott responded with excitement about his choice.
Last season, the 6-foot, 200 pound Williams, a four star running back, completed his junior season rushing for 1,477 yards and totaled 1,763 yards from scrimmage with 19 touchdowns. Williams is ranked the No. 22 class of 2022 recruits according to Rivals.
