Game of the Week: Collins Hill vs East Coweta As Eagles Look For Revenge
We preview several big match ups for week six including our game of the week as Collins Hill host East Coweta in a rematch from last year.
1. In a rematch from last year, Collins Hill (4-0) looks to avenge their double overtime loss to East Coweta (5-0). Each team returns several starters on both sides of the ball, so expect a playoff like atmosphere in Suwanee when these two collide. For Collins Hill head coach Lenny Gregory, falling to East Coweta last season “was a big lesson last year and probably one of the better loses I’ve had as a coach where you can really get the buy in from the kids of things you’re stressing as important,” Gregory said. Coach Gregory went on to add that the East Coweta loss allowed their players to get a better understanding of “why we do what we do and why the little things are important. And we were able to really get things turned around after that game and not losing again until the state championship,” Gregory stated, adding “our kids are taking a different approach in that this team beat us last year so our kids their dialed in this week and realizes East Coweta is really good and we have to play good to give us a shot.”
On the other end, East Coweta head coach John Small says it is no secret that the Indians like to play big games as they get set to face Georgia’s No. 1 Class 7A team in Collins Hill. “We got them believing that we play a faceless opponent every Friday night,” Small said in preparing this week for the Eagles. Small continued “we want to be the best us we can be, play the best that we can, and wee what happens. I told them the other day, ‘guys, this is probably going to be one of the greatest atmospheres you’ve every played in, but the main thing is the main thing and that’s go out and play well and do your job.” Small added that he also told his guys to all in all to enjoy the experience, “enjoy every second of it, you’ve worked hard to get in this position, so go out enjoy it.” Click link below for interview with Coach John Small
